Oh lookey it's my hands!

Lily is 12.5 weeks old and has discovered her hands! It's so cute. She is so much more settled these days and is more predictable. We are on a feed, play, then sleep routine now. She can usually go about 1-1.5 hours of being awake, when it all becomes too much. I remember with Savanna having to nip it in the bud though, as if you let her get beyond that tired stage and into overtired territory, watch out!

She is waking once at night for a feed now. Savanna dropped her night feeds and slept through from 4 months old, so let's hope Lily decides to do the same!

Lily is chuckling now sometimes, which is cute. She gets SO excited to see me now, when I go and collect her from her cot. It's lovely. Oh, and she is absoloutely in LOVE with her big sister. Savanna gets the most smiles out of her! I must remember to take a photo next time she is in her bouncer, side by side along Savanna who is playing games. Savanna includes Lily in her little games and often I will find Lily sitting in her bouncer surrounded by plastic pretend food. So funny.

Here are a couple of pics from this morning, when she was examining her hands.

Lily Melissa Allen

I found out I was pregnant in March, 2006. We had been trying for another baby and were delighted to discover that Savanna would have a little brother or sister by the end of the year.
I had a good pregnancy with a slight worry toward the end due to Polyhydramnios - however - this proved to be of no concern, as Lily was born very very healthy. She was born at the exact same gestation as her older sister, 37weeks and 2 days.

I trialled a labour, not knowing whether I would end up with another ceasarian section as I had to have with Savanna. I am proud that I did not have any drugs up until I was 9cm dialated. This was 4 hours from the time my waters broke. At 9cm I had an epidural put in to relieve the excruciating pain (!) and also as a back up just in case I needed to have a c-section. Well after a 3 hour sleep and 1 cm later the Doctor found that I had gone to 10cm, and back down to 9. There was a lip on the cervix that wouldnt allow the baby's head to descend. He is pretty sure this is what would have happened with Savanna.

So off to theatre it was and I was glad that I had at least made the effort, so I didn't feel any dissapointment with the labour, like I had failed or anything. Shan had a shower and put his cool blue uniform on and off we went.

It took about 5 minutes before Lily was born, at 4.29am, the doctor said "Does Dad want to see his baby?" and Shan stood up and there she was. Covered in gunk and crying her head off. It was fantastic. I'm sure I would have cried alot if I wasn't shaking so much from the epidural. I had a litle cuddle then she was taken and Shan went with her, I was sewn up and then went into recovery for about 45 mins.

I was then taken into my ward and soon enough Shan , Lily and the midwife Noreen came in. Shan and I were so happy. I fed her and she took to it perfectly. Shan stayed for a little bit, then went home to get some sleep. It was now 7am.

I stayed in hospital for 4 days and returned home to life with 2 children!

Lily was born 7lb and 49.5cm in length.
